How Much Does a Furniture 3D Configurator Cost?

By FurnishAR Team · 24 Oct 2026 · 4 min read

A furniture 3D configurator has two cost categories: preparing and implementing the experience, and operating the platform that publishes it. A monthly viewer price does not tell you the full project cost. Equally, an implementation quote should explain which work is included before asking you to compare totals.

The main variables are the condition of the source models, the materials and product options, and how the configurator connects to your website. Start by pricing a defined product with a defined set of choices. That produces a more useful estimate than asking for a cost per catalogue item without showing the products.

1. Creating or preparing the 3D model

If you already have a suitable model, the work may focus on cleanup, UV mapping, material assignments and export. An architectural or manufacturing model can still need preparation for a browser. If no usable model exists, modelling from agreed references and dimensions becomes part of the project.

Complexity affects the work. Upholstery folds, visible stitching, unusual joints and multiple component shapes can require more attention than a simple solid object. A quote should state the source material, intended level of detail and deliverable formats. It should also explain whether editable source files are included.

2. Materials and finish options

Fabric, wood and concrete need different surface treatment. Preparation may involve adapting supplied textures, building material maps, correcting texture scale and checking the appearance on the model. The number of finish names alone does not describe this work: several colours based on one material can differ from several unrelated surfaces.

Agree what will be shown and how it will be approved. Digital finishes are previews; screens and lighting affect their appearance. If physical sample matching is required, specify that requirement when asking for the quote.

3. Configuration and product rules

Independent fabric and wood choices are a different scope from modular furniture with compatibility rules, alternative dimensions and dependent parts. Start with a list of valid combinations. Identify which selections only change appearance and which change the actual geometry.

An on-screen configuration also needs a defined destination. Showing options, printing a selection, sending an enquiry and adding a configuration to a shopping cart are separate requirements. Automatic prices, cart connections and order data should be quoted explicitly when needed.

4. Website integration

Embedding a viewer into a product page is a different task from connecting existing product menus to a 3D scene. A custom interface, an options plugin or purchasing rules can add work. Share the website platform and an example product page so the integration can be assessed against the actual store.

Keep model preparation, configuration and integration visible as separate quote items. That makes it easier to decide what you need now and what can wait, while keeping the acceptance criteria clear.

5. Ongoing FurnishAR platform pricing

At publication, FurnishAR lists Viewer at €15 per month, Product Page at €49 per month and Catalog Rollout at €149 per month on monthly billing. These are platform subscription prices. They do not represent a complete modelling and integration quote.

Plan features and limits differ. For example, the Viewer plan is a simple viewer starting point, while the Product Page plan lists materials and product variants. Check the current pricing page for the capabilities and limits needed by your project.

Ask for a defined first project

A useful request includes one product page, available model files, dimensions, the finishes and parts to configure, the website platform and the action the buyer should take after selecting. We can assess those inputs and quote the preparation and implementation work separately from hosting.

You can inspect an independent outdoor-bench demonstration before sending a brief. It illustrates a concrete-and-wood finish workflow; it is not a customer case study or a claim about increased sales.
